LASERS
The corner stone of SCA is bringing the best (which means safe and effective with less down time) laser technology available to treat a common array of cosmetic concerns. These include Brown and red discolorations,Scars,Unwanted hair,Wrinkles, folds and sagging,Fat reduction

Lumenis® Encore® CO2
Self-Centered Aesthetics™ knows you desire naturally youthful, tight and wrinkle-free skin. Encore® fractionated CO2 (Active/Deep FX™) is our more aggressive state-of-the-art skin resurfacing laser designed to maximally erase your BROWN SPOTS while tightening your FOLDS and WRINKLES, all in ONE SINGLE SESSION.
There are a variety of factors that contribute to appearance of AGING SKIN. Excluding the innumerable voluntary and involuntary contractions our muscles make during every day expression, our genetics and exposure to sunlight and pollution play a major role in the senescence of our skin. A number of MICROSCOPIC CHANGES occurs within the structure of the skin itself as it ages. As dermal COLLAGEN THINS out, more MOISTURE IS LOST in concert with decreasing oil/sebum production. The skin's elastic fibers fall into disarray leading to LOSS OF SKIN ELASTICITY. The subcutaneous FAT ATROPHIES. All of these changes affects the integrity of the dermis itself allowing the skin to wrinkle and sag. Eventually, regardless of our genetic makeup, we all end up with some degree of SAG, WRINKLES and COLLAPSE.
There are a seemingly infinite number of treatment options for wrinkle reduction, from over-the-counter beauty products to surgical options such as a face-lift and everything in between. Most products work by just hydrating or swelling the skin, temporarily providing only a short-term reduction in wrinkles. Indeed, as soon as the swelling effect disappears, the original wrinkles return exactly as they were before. Only SURGERY, ablative solutions (DERMABRASION and deep chemical PEELS) and energy based treatments, such as fractional LASER solutions provide an effective way to treat wrinkles for long-term results. Most dermatologists and plastic surgeons understand that the correlation between length of recovery is directly related to potential outcomes-essentially, the longer the downtime, the more significant a result. However, with recent innovative fractionated laser technology, this downtime/outcome dependency is changing because of the unique way laser energy is delivered deep into the dermis.
SKIN RESURFACING involves removing a certain amount of the surface layers of skin. Laser skin resurfacing provides an element of facial rejuvenation that a facelift cannot provide. Dr. Haworth equates facial rejuvenation to the making of a bed worthy of the cover of a magazine such as Architectural Digest. The facelift is equivalent to the actual making of the bed (nipping and tucking, so to speak) while the laser is the equivalent to washing and ironing the sheets. No matter how well made the bed is (think the "perfect facelift" result) if the sheets remain wrinkled, it will not make the cover of the magazine! Although most often performed on the face, skin resurfacing may be performed elsewhere on the body but with lower energies at the discretion of the practitioner.
Different procedures, alone or in conjunction, vary in strengths and have a range of benefits beyond reduction of laxity including improvements in fine lines and wrinkles, firmness, texture, pore size, the appearance of photodamage (such as vascular and pigmented lesions), and a general healthy glow.
In addition to microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photofacials, and fractional skin resurfacing, we are proud to offer you an even more aggressive treatment for skin resurfacing – the ULTIMATE in SKIN REJUVENATION – Lumenis Encore Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing with Dr. Randal Haworth.
Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing with the Encore® laser is the new “GOLD STANDARD” for skin rejuvenation. The Lumenis® Encore® CO2 is the most powerful and fastest firing of all CO2 lasers, enabling it to reach each depths and goals that weaker devices are not capable of achieving. Though stronger and faster firing, the Encore® fractionated CO2 laser is actually able to achieve MORE DRAMATIC results but MORE GENTLY. This is because weaker or slower firing CO2 lasers need more time and energy to reach deep into the skin, resulting in greater thermal injury and therefore more discomfort and a longer recovery. The difference is akin to driving a Bentley versus a Honda Civic – there’s just no comparison! The laser creates microscopic “holes” in your skin surface that stimulate both new collagen growth and tightening. Healing is accelerated by preserving fine “bridges” of skin and there is much less downtime and risk compared with traditional non-fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. Patients are delighted at how tight and firm their face, neck, and décolletage become after this amazing procedure.
Lumenis® Encore® Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing:
1. Leaves your skin looking UNIFORM IN COLOR (with less hyperpigmentation and age spots) in a completely NATURAL way.
2. Significantly REDUCES LAXITY, PORE SIZE, fine LINES and WRINKLES with IMPROVED TEXTURE.
3. Reduces the appearance of scars (scars from surgery, acne, or actinic keratosis).
4. Can treat precancerous lesions.
5. Is effective with most skin tones.
6. Can be used on the NECK, HANDS and other parts of the body.
7. Can achieve dramatic results with a SINGLE SESSION.
8. Has far LESS DOWNTIME than the traditional fully ablative CO2 laser.
9. Is NONSURGICAL.
*Results and patient experience may vary.
Fractional CO2 resurfacing works best for light-complexion patients; darker skin patients are not ideal candidates for this treatment.
Under the aegis of Dr. Haworth, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ is proud to offer the Encore® CO2 (Active FX, Deep FX, Total FX), for fractional and fully ablative laser resurfacing. His experience with this highly sophisticated device allows Dr. Haworth to tailor the strength of a patient's treatment according to the outcome desired with predictable and MANAGEABLE DOWNTIME.
PREPARATION
Since this procedure is more involved and requires a significant but fortunately short recovery, you will be given a formal preparatory clinic visit with one of our certified laser professionals or Dr. Haworth himself. This is similar to a preoperative consultation and at that time you will also be given paperwork to reiterate the verbal instructions. However, the highlights of the necessary preparation before your laser resurfacing with the fractionated CO2 Encore® laser is as follows.
1. Depending on whether you opted to get your Encore® fractionated CO2 (Active FX/Deep FX) laser treatment under sedation or awake will determine if you can eat before the procedure or not. Generally, for those undergoing sedation, your anesthesia provider will call to instruct you what time you should come in the next day as well as remind you not to eat after midnight. If you plan to receive your laser resurfacing treatment while awake, be sure to come to your appointment both well hydrated and not on an empty stomach—some patients get light-headed from not eating before a treatment.
2. Consider quitting smoking cigarettes if you are a frequent smoker, as the smoke can promote complications.
3. Be sure to use sunscreen anytime you go outside in the month leading up to your first laser treatment to avoid any negative reactions. Do not tan or use self tanner in the areas to be lasered for at least four weeks prior.
4. You must be off any Accutane, tetracycline antibiotic or St. John's wort for at least six months.
5. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen before your treatment to avoid unnecessary bruising. Take Tylenol or any other pain medication without aspirin if needed to avoid any discomfort.
6. Stop Tretinoin, Retin-A, Retinol 10 days before and Skin lightening products (Hydroquinone 4%) 3 days before.
7. Be sure that your treatment area is free of perfumes, lotions, moisturizers and makeup. Do not bring jewelry or valuables to the procedure.Dress in comfortable clothes with a loose fitting, button or zip-up top. If you have long hair, wear in back in a ponytail away from face and neck.
8. Avoid waxing for one week before and 4-6 weeks after your laser resurfacing.
9. Have on hand a bottle of white vinegar for vinegar cold compresses to use once you return home after the procedure.
10. Take the appropriately prescribed medications as instructed both prior to the procedure, the morning of and during the postoperative period. One of the medications is Valtrex as prophylaxis against cold sores. You may ask be prescribed Valium for anxiety and a Medrol Dose Pack to control swelling.
THE VISIT
Expect to be here at least 120-180 minutes. We will review your medical history, go over the procedure, expectations and answer any questions you may have. Under the guidelines of Dr. Haworth, a customized treatment will be formulated specifying what laser energy settings to use, as well as how to apply it for your particular skin and condition. We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete.
If you choose to forgo IV sedation or general anesthesia, before your Encore® fractionated CO2 laser peel treatment begins, a NUMBING CREAM will be applied for at least 30 minutes. Following that, you will be given VALIUM and DEMEROL as well as tactical numbing injections which serve as NERVE BLOCKS to the face. Our certified professional at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will then apply protective eye shields before commencing the procedure.
Depending on your mutually agreed-upon pre-procedural expectations in terms of wrinkle removal and facial tightening as well as the number of areas to be treated, the Encore® fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure will take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. A ZIMMER® COOLING device will be utilized for added insurance against any discomfort.
Once the procedure is finished, your eye shields will be removed and a protective HEALING OINTMENT applied to your face. Whether you were awake during the entire procedure or under anesthesia, you need to have a designated driver take you back to your designated recovery area.
AFTERCARE
1. Immediately after your first and follow-up treatments, a moisturizing cream formulated to both promote healing and combat bacteria will be applied. We may subsequently change this for you in the unlikely event an allergy to the cream should arise. Follow this regimen as instructed. Generally, it is advisable to wash your face with the recommended cleanser every 4 to 5 hours then apply the healing cream. It is important to not scrub your face when cleansing yet aim to remove all cream from the last application before applying another.
2. The following applies to alleviating discomfort:
• Once the heat sensation dissipates (up to 3 hours post-procedure), most experience little to no discomfort. Depending on the strength of your treatment, social downtime typically includes manageable redness and swelling for the first 4 to 7 days. You can also expect to see significant pigmentation shedding during the first week, which is a sign of a healthy recovery. Do not pick at your skin. With particularly aggressive treatments, a few extra days of recovery should be expected.
• For soothing relief, it is recommended to utilize cold compresses 10-15 minutes every hour. These will also help control the initial post procedural swelling.
• Apply VINEGAR SOAKS at least 3-4 times per day to not only help quicken the shedding process but also soothe the skin and decrease itching. (Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar in a bowl of ice water). Soak wash cloth in the solution and place cloth on face for 10-20 minutes. DO NOT rub aggressively.
• Advil (ibuprofen) 800 mg three times per day or Aleve 500 mg two times per day may be taken as an anti-inflammatory to help decrease discomfort and swelling.
• For itching, Benadryl 25 mg up to four times a day, or you can do vinegar soaks.
3. During the healing process, you should limit sun exposure and wear a broad spectrum UVA and UVB sunscreen/block with zinc for at least six weeks, if you're regimen. After the initial healing has been complete, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will recommend a restorative and maintenance skin regimen.
4. Shave with caution or avoid it altogether until you are comfortable. Do not wax your face until instructed you may do so. Generally, you must wait at least six weeks before doing so.
5. Resume all your normal activities immediately-in fact it is encouraged, but try to avoid excess perspiration especially on the treated areas.
FOLLOW-UP TREATMENTS
Representing the pinnacle of both partially and fully ablative skin resurfacing laser technology, the Encore® fractionated CO2 laser achieves its goals in one session while results results in three stages:
STAGE ONE (within 4 weeks):
• Patients will experience significant pigment reduction and overall brightening of their skin.
STAGE TWO (3 to 6 months):
• Patients will notice visible pore reduction, the beginning of line and wrinkle reduction with an overall smoother and tighter look.
STAGE THREE (6 to 12 months):
• During the final stage, patients will start to notice major improvement in their deep lines, wrinkles and scars. Although your skin will look better with each week that passes after treatment, results may take a year or longer to reach their full potential. Longevity and outcomes are increased by adhering closely to Self-Centered Aesthetics™ recommended skincare maintenance plan.
Remember, though this laser treatment reverses time, time still marches on!
*Results and patient experience may vary.
There are typically no major side effects or downtime aside from minor inflammation. You will most likely notice that the pigment darkens slightly while your body works to remove it. The pigment often is brought to the surface and it will flake off leaving your skin more even toned and lustrous.
There are few, but rare, risks to be considered when undergoing any form of laser treatment. Among these are infection, scarring (possible keloid scarring in darker skinned individuals) hyperpigmentation as well as hypopigmentation. If you experience an inordinate amount of unexplainable pain, blistering, burns, ulcers or signs of infection, contact Self-Centered Aesthetics™ as soon as conveniently possible. Approximately 5% of patients experience a delayed allergic reaction to the post procedural healing creams which manifests as a rapid onset of intense redness, bumps and itching. If you experience this, again, contact our staff immediately and wash off all residual creams. We will prescribe topical steroids and an alternative soothing gel to rapidly reverse this situation.
Pricing of Encore® laser for skin resurfacing depends on the areas to be treated and whether or not you seek to be sedated by our anesthesia provider. During your initial consult, our laser professional and Dr Haworth at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will recommend a specialized treatment plan to help you reach your goals.

Lumenis® IPL®
AGE SPOTS, SPIDER VEINS, RED PATCHES, and FINE LINES? If you suffer from any of these but can't afford any downtime, our gold standard IPL M22 Technology, your most effective solution for clear and lustrous, blemish-free skin.
We all now know about the sun's radiating UVA and UVB rays and how they age your skin in more ways than one. Even though you "religiously" avoid the sun and don sunblock during waking hours, the accumulation of continuous, albeit brief exposures to both the sun, tobacco smoke and other environmental assaults eventually takes its toll. Skin will not only become DULL and DRY but also more CREPEY with FINE LINES and WRINKLES. It will also lose its homogenous pearly translucency by developing blotches of BROWN and PATCHES OF RED often accompanied with SPIDER VEINS and sometimes ROSACEA. We at Self Centered Aesthetics know this is not a pretty picture. But we also have an antidote.
Although known as the original PhotoFacial, the Lumenis® IPL (acronym for Intense Pulse Light) is not your standard aesthetician's facial, it is so much more. While UVA and UVB rays like to add years to your skin, an IPL Photofacial can literally take them off. Through the use of intense pulsed light therapy, spots, redness, broken veins and capillaries are ERASED while improving UNEVEN TONE and texture.
The beauty of the IPL solution is that there is little-to-no downtime and MINIMAL DISCOMFORT from it. It's power to combat redness has been harnessed as a very effective TREATMENT FOR ROSACEA. Extra benefits include INCREASED COLLAGEN production and DECREASED PORE SIZE. In addition to the Photofacial, IPL can be effective on any part of the body where sun damage has left its mark. Indeed, it is a popular treatment for the sun damage to the décolletage (chest), hands, legs and other areas.
Performed in a series, IPL Photofacials lead to SMOOTH EVEN SKIN or youth and beauty.
A laser differs from other sources of light in that it emits light coherently, not only allowing it to be focused to a precise spot but also within a very narrow wavelength (or single color). Though technically not a laser per se, IPL does it work via light as well. IPL is an intense pulsed light of more than one wavelength which targets redness emanating from tiny blood vessels and the melanin pigment that makes up sun and age spots. Without breaking the skin, this very strong light goes beneath the surface to selectively damage the blood vessels and melanin, which are then naturally absorbed by the body.
For what and where can I use IPL technology to improve my skin’s appearance?
IPL treatments can be used on your FACE and BODY where you have aging, sun damaged skin.
Generally, it is very effective for:
1. RED PATCHES caused by the small blood vessels barely visible to the naked eye.
2. Visible SPIDER VEINS and telangiectasia.
3. ROSACEA particularly the redness, flushing and bumps associated with it. Because this is a treatment that works especially well on redness and broken capillaries, IPL precisely targets the problems plaguing rosacea sufferers. Patients also notice smaller pore size and fewer breakouts.
4. Port wine stains.
5. Brown discolorations including AGE SPOTS, MELASMA, HYPERPIGMENTATION and LENTIGENES.
6. Enlarged PORES.
7. Fine lines and WRINKLES.
8. DRY and DULL skin texture.
In addition to the face, patients benefit from using IPL to renew the skin on the neck chest (décolletage), hands, legs, arms and back. Most people may benefit from and safely receive an IPL Photorejuvenation treatment, especially from trained professionals such as our team at Self-C A. However, always consult with your physician to find out if IPL is right for you.
PREPARATION
The most important way you can prepare for an IPL treatment is to stay out of the sun for a week prior to your visit. In order to minimize any potential side effects, individuals preparing to undergo an IPL photofacial should:
1. Avoid going in the sun without SPF30 sunscreen (must contain UVA and UVB filters) for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.
2. Ensure treatment area is free of sunburn, suntan, herpes outbreak (cold sores), inflammatory acne, eczema, hypo or hyperpigmentation.
3. Avoid using any form of Vitamin A acid for at least 60 days, including retinoic acid, glycolic acid, tretinoin (Retin-A) and alpha-hydroxy acids
4. Stop Accutane for at least 6 months.
5. Bring contact lens case and solution as you may be required to remove contact lenses before treatment.
6. Bring sunscreen that's at least SPF30 to the appointment; you'll need to apply it after the treatment. If you don't, don't worry, Self Centered Aesthetics has one of the best sunscreen/sunblock products for your use.
THE VISIT
IPL treatments are performed in a series spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. You will need 3-5 treatments depending on the level of discoloration you would like to improve. If you are a new client, expect to be here at least 60-90 minutes. We will review your medical history, go over the procedure, expectations and answer any questions you may have. We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete. Follow-up procedures should take approximately 45-60 minutes depending on what areas are treated and whether you require proper application of our numbing cream prior to your session.
First, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you may be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright flashes of light. As the pulses of light are applied you may feel a snap similar to a taut rubber band released upon your skin. Each treatment takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. The total treatment is generally administered in a series of 4 to 6 sessions, and you will see gradual improvement that yields excellent long-term results with low risk and minimal downtime. Our professionals at Self-C A will start your very first session with a lower energy level appropriately safe for your particular skin type and work up from there. Consequently, results generally become even more apparent as you progress in your treatment course. Most will notice significant improvement after 1 or 2 sessions, but maximum results are achieved with a full series.
AFTERCARE
You will have no real downtime from an IPL treatment other than possibly the look and sensation of a slight sunburn. There might be redness on areas treated for redness, and brown spots usually get darker in the 24 hours following the treatment and then just gently flake off. Any and all of these symptoms will clear up within about a week. However, you can wear makeup right away following treatment, and you will not feel no discomfort. You should wear sunscreen and stay out of the sun for a week following treatment. You can book an appointment on your lunch break and go back to work right after, with colleagues none the wiser.
In order to minimize any potential side effects:
1. Right after your IPL apply moisturizer and a full spectrum sunscreen (at least SPF 30) protecting against UVA and UVB rays for 30 days (failure to do so can result in complications and skin damage). Obviously, avoid sun for the duration of the treatment plan and 30 days thereafter. Moisturize frequently.
2. Avoid exposing your treated areas to hot water for 48 hours.
3. Neither scratch nor pick the treated area. Don't engage in strenueous exercise that produces perspiration for 48 hours.
4. Avoid Accutane for several months as with any laser procedure. The best way to maintain the results of your IPL treatment is to wear sunscreen every day and avoid sun exposure to those areas. Remember, IPL works to improve sun-damaged skin. Even when you remove existing sun or age spots, if you expose your rejuvenated skin to the sun without protection, you run the risk of damaging your skin all over again.
The corner stone of most skin rejuvenation treatments (including medical dermabrasion, chemical peels and laser therapy) is the creation of a controlled injury to that particular element of the skin that is contributing to its senescence. Whether it be a patch of spider veins, irregular pigmentation or generalized fine lines and wrinkles, damage is administered as precisely as possible to target the appropriate cells and/or structures responsible for the particular problem. As with any of these treatment solutions, the injury created during the process may be greater then what a patient's skin can handle. When this happens, scarring, discoloration (hypo- or hyperpigmentation) or worsening of the original condition can occur. Fortunately these complications are rare. However, to minimize these risks, experienced practitioners such as ours at Self-Centered Aesthetics, commence a treatment plan with lower energies and work up from there based on how your skin reacts after each session.
IPL is a technique-sensitive treatment—look for someone who is licensed and trained and has experience treating patients with these machines and other lasers.
Your cost not only includes the use of the sophisticated Lumenis® IPL device, but more importantly, the SKILL and EXPERTISE of the specialist employing it to treat your skin condition.

Our team of medical professionals at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will take the time to understand your treatment goals and develop an IPL plan that is RIGHT FOR YOU.

Lumenis® LightSheer Duet™
With MINIMAL PAIN and MAXIMAL RESULTS, our LightSheer is one of the world's best laser HAIR REDUCTION solutions around. With it, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ can get you the silky, smooth hair-free skin you dreamed about.
Regardless of our racial heritage, whether we are blonde or brunette or consider ourselves less hairy than others, many are surprised to learn that virtually our entire body is covered with hair. Since most of this hair is fine and pale, it usually goes unnoticed and is essentially invisible to the naked eye. Yet, when darker, thicker hair grows in places which make you feel uncomfortably self-conscious, it may be time to consider hair removal with STATE-OF-THE-ART LASER technology.
Past remedies for removing unwanted hair included plucking, shaving, waxing, electrolysis or chemical depilatories. Not only can they be painful and messy but all provide only a temporary solution. SAFER and more PERMANENT than waxing, plucking, shaving, electrolysis, and other methods, laser hair removal is so EFFECTIVE that most see dramatic long-term hair reduction after some three to five sessions. Laser hair removal is even good for addressing INGROWN HAIR.
At any one time, hair is in multiple stages of growth throughout your body unlike the growth cycle of harvestable crops in response to the season. Therefore you will need MULTIPLE SESSIONS for MAXIMAL RESULTS, because only hair in the anagen — or active — stage of hair growth can be successfully treated.
What’s more, laser hair removal is the only PROVEN method available for easily and quickly removing hair from large areas of the body — the back, chest, legs, face.
In 2017, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ believe laser hair removal is the MOST EFFECTIVE solution and that the High Speed LightSheer DUET® by Lumenis® is the best on the market for efficacy, speed and comfort.
Unlike other laser hair removal systems being offered, the LightSheer DUET® utilizes a state-of-the-art diode laser to target the hair follicle as well as vacuum-assist technology to increase the laser's efficiency while minimizing any discomfort.
LightSheer DUET® can treat ALL SKIN TYPES and areas of the body when appropriate treatment parameters are utilized by our professionals at Self-Centered Aesthetics. This is fantastic for both MEN and WOMEN.
However, women who are pregnant or maybe so should postpone treatments until they have delivered.
LightSheer's 800 nm near-infrared diode laser has been optimized for permanent hair reduction across the broadest patient population and clinically validated with over 6000 systems installed worldwide. Diode lasers use the principle of selective photothermolysis (abbreviated SPTL) to target specific chromophores in the skin, usually melanin or blood. The lasers damage the chromophores by selectively heating them while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. When treating unwanted hair, for example, the melanin in the hair follicles is targeted for destruction resulting in the disruption of hair growth and regeneration. A diode laser can be complemented by cooling technology, or other pain reducing methods which improve treatment efficacy and patient comfort. The Lumenis Light Sheer Duet™ is considerably LESS PAINFUL because the VACUUM component of the handpiece "fools" your nerve endings into feeling suction instead of the laser itself. Also, the Lumenis Light Sheer Duet™ has a relatively large spot size, which means that LARGE AREAS of the body like the full legs, arms, etc can be treated relatively QUICKLY. Also, due to the suction, your skin is stretched out and up closer to the actual diode (laser), which leads to predictably EFFECTIVE results. For those small confined areas in the body that need more precise energy pulses (such as around the ears, nose and bikini areas) the LightSheer can also be used with a separate hand-piece equipped with a smaller tip and a DCD (dynamic cooling device) component.
Hair removal requires multiple treatments. This is because the laser works best when hairs are in an early growth stage (referred to as anagen), and all the hairs are not in this phase at the same time. The appearance of the treated area immediately following treatment will vary from patient to patient, depending on the extent of the procedure and the skin type. On average patients experience 20-30% less regrowth after each treatment and 70-90% reduction in hair growth after 8-12 treatments.
PREPARATION
1. Patients will be instructed to clean-shave all areas planned for treatment either the night before or the morning of the session. Failing to do so, patients should let the staff at Self-CA beforehand so the appropriate amount of time can be factored into the appointment. Patients may be rescheduled should this latter scenario arise. Shave with a high quality razor and shaving cream in a warm shower. Do not use soap to shave because it dries out your skin. For hard to see areas like the inner buttocks try using a mirror. Electric hair clippers are useful to shave men’s back. However, despite the need to shave just prior to the laser treatment, clients must stop waxing, tweezing and chemical epilation 3 weeks prior to treatment.
2. Patients must avoid sun exposure as well as sunless-tanning products 14 days prior to treatment. As an added precaution, exfoliating the area to remove any residual color is recommended. Those who are sunburned or tanned must wait 2 weeks before being treated to avoid additional skin.
3. Patients must avoid chemical peels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for 2 weeks prior and two weeks after your laser treatment.
4. Patients must avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products(AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoids/Retin-A equivalents),Tazorac, Differin for 7 days before treatment.
5. As an added precautionary measure, patients should not be taking antibiotics because of their potential deleterious photosensitizing side effect. We recommend patients check with their prescribing doctor prior to receiving laser treatments if on a long term antibiotic (e.g, for managing acne). Patients will need to be off antibiotics for at least 7 days before laser treatment.
6. Patients must be off Accutane or similar medications six months prior to any type of laser therapy.
7. Those prone to cold sores are highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication (such as Valtrex) prior to treatment. Clients with active cold sores will not be treated.
8. It is advisable to avoid scheduling any laser hair removal treatment within 14 days of having received dermal filler.
9. Tight-fitting boots should not be wore immediately after leg treatments.
10. If applicable, apply numbing cream 45 to 60 minutes prior to treatment.
THE VISIT
If you are a new client, expect to be here at least 60-90 minutes which would include time required to fill out all relevant paperwork and consents. We will review your medical history, go over the procedure, expectations and answer any questions you may have. We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete. Follow-up procedures should take approximately 15-30 minutes.
With the Light Sheer Duet laser it is possible to laser your entire body in less than one hour. Compared to other lasers, treatment TIMES ARE REDUCED by up to 75%. An upper lip takes about 5 minutes, underarms about 10 minutes, and full legs around 30. Before the session, you’ll be given protective eye gear and, if requested, a topical anesthetic. The majority of our patients do not need numbing cream. The LightSheer Duet® is a suction type laser so it does not feel like the pinching /rubber band snapping like most other lasers. This laser doesn’t use cold air or cooling spray like other laser machines because it’s so gentle. It feels like light suction and mild warmth on the skin. If a patient is extremely sensitive, it is recommended that they take a Tylenol before coming in, or our office will offer numbing cream if needed. An over the counter numbing cream is available for purchase. You should experience mild redness, bumps, and perhaps swelling in the lasered area for up to 72 hours. After your laser session, cooling aloe gel, calamine and triamcinolone cream may be applied to soothe the skin. You will receive a copy of the post laser instructions upon arrival. Aloe and 1% hydrocortisone cream can be applied at home after the treatment as well.
AFTERCARE
1. Avoid exposing the treated area to sun for 7 days post treatment.
2. If blisters occur, do not puncture. If skin is broken, apply an antibiotic ointment until healed.
3. Tylenol is recommended for post treatment discomfort. Most experience little to no pain after laser hair removal.
4. You may apply Restorative Gel (highest recommended), cool towels, ice packs or aloe vera to alleviate the sensation of heat.
5. Use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30/sun block on areas that are likely to be briefly exposed to the sun after treatment (such as the mustache line) .
6. Avoid any additional laser treatments or chemical procedures on the treated area for at least 14 days after your laser hair removal session.
7. Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products(AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoids/Retin-A equivalents),Tazorac, Differin for 7 days after treatment.
8. Up to three weeks after your treatment, some hair may seem to be regrowing but this usually represents the elimination of the hair that remained under your skin and is not true we growth. You may exfoliate with a loofah when you get out of the shower as long as your skin is not irritated. Do not wax or tweeze or undergo electrolysis in between your laser hair removal sessions. You may shave or trim if needed.
9. If you experience any side effects such as hypo or hyper pigmentation, prolonged redness or swelling, histamine reaction, or blistering call call our office for further instructions. Do not manipulate the skin on any of your treated areas. If crusting or scabbing develops, just allow it to fall off on its own so as not to damage the skin underneath it.
10. To achieve optimal results, complete the full treatment schedule at the intervals recommended-Usually around 4 to 8 weeks between treatments. For the face, it is usually between 2 to 4 weeks because facial hair grows faster.
Negative side effects from laser hair removal are very uncommon. Treated areas may be pink or red for a few hours after treatment, and the hair follicle may look red (which is actually a good sign that the follicle has been treated successfully). In rare instances, blistering, minor scarring as well as changes in skin color such as redness, hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation (loss or increase in pigment, respectively).

In addition to microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photofacials, and fractional skin resurfacing, we are proud to offer you an even more aggressive treatment for skin resurfacing – the ULTIMATE in SKIN REJUVENATION – Lumenis® ResurFX® Laser Resurfacing with Dr. Randal Haworth.
ResurFX® is a newly FDA-approved device designed to LESSEN FINE LINES and WRINKLES, soften SCARS, SKIN TEXTURE and tone, and promote collagen growth. ResurFX® is a non-ablative laser meaning it STIMULATES COLLAGEN production in the skin without harming or fully removing the outer layers. It prioritizes patient COMFORT just as much as effectiveness to produce skin that is TIGHTER, more even in color and ultimately, more YOUTHFUL. The ResurFX® is most similar to the Fraxel Re:Store laser, a 1550 nm wavelength laser device (utilizing the ERBIUMcrystal) which has become a standard of minimal downtime laser skin resurfacing. Indeed, Dr. Haworth previously used this device but feels that ResurFX® has a number of advantages setting it apart from the previous Fraxel technology. ResurFX, a 1565 nm wavelength device, is performed without a disposable tip to the laser. Unlike the 6 to 8 passes required with Fraxel ReStore, a ResurFX® treatment is conducted usually with ONLY 1 PASS to the targeted area of skin; this leads to greater patient comfort. The laser creates microscopic “holes” in your skin surface that stimulate both new collagen growth and tightening. Patients are delighted at how TIGHT and FIRM their face, neck, and décolletage become after this amazing procedure. Healing is accelerated by preserving fine “bridges” of skin and there is much LESS DOWNTIME and risk compared with older, fully ablative laser technology.
ResurFX® can significantly improve the appearance of sun damage and wrinkling of the skin. It is often the TREATMENT OF CHOICE for mild acne scarring or for those patients desiring meaningful skin improvement with minimal downtime. Vertical lip lines around the mouth, crow’s feet around the eyes, surgical or burn scars, and brown spots related to sun exposure all can be helped with ResurFX®.
Skin Resurfacing with ResurFX® is Self-CA's comfortable solution for:
– Sun spots
– Fine lines and WRINKLES
– STRETCH MARKS or striae
– HYPERPIGMENTATION or discoloration
– Uneven skin tone
– SCARS from acne or surgery
– Lax or LOOSE SKIN
...all with minimal to no downtime
Under the aegis of Dr. Haworth, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ is proud to offer the Lumenis® M22 ResurFX®, for fractional laser resurfacing. His experience with this HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED device allows Dr. Haworth to customize the lasers settings and treatment method in accordance to the outcome desired with PREDICTABLE and manageable downtime.

THE VISIT
Expect to be here at least 60-120 minutes. We will review your medical history, go over the procedure, expectations and answer any questions you may have. Under the guidelines of Dr. Haworth, a CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT approach will be formulated specifying what laser energy settings to use, as well as how to apply it for your particular skin and condition. We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete.
A NUMBING CREAM will be applied for at least 30 minutes. Following that, if so desired, you will be given VALIUM and Demerol as well as tactical numbing injections which serve as nerve blocks to the face. Our certified professional at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will then apply protective eye shields before commencing the procedure.
Depending on your mutually agreed-upon pre-procedural cosmetic expectations in terms of wrinkles, lightening and tightening as well as the number of areas to be treated, the Lumenis® M22 ResurFX ® laser skin resurfacing procedure will take anywhere from 20-30 minutes. A ZIMMER® COOLING device will be utilized for added insurance against any discomfort. Most patients report the sensation of sparklers during the procedure.
Once the procedure is finished, your eye shields will be removed and a protective HEALING OINTMENT applied to your face. For more extensive treatments it is advisable to have a designated driver take you home, especially if you were premedicated before the procedure.
AFTERCARE
2. Once the heat sensation dissipates (up to 2 hours post-procedure), most experience litlle to no discomfort. You can return to your normal activities the day after your procedure with minor redness and swelling similar to a mild sunburn. You may apply the specially healing Oxygenetix® makeup to cover any redness you may have immediately after the procedure.Do not pick at your skin.
For soothing relief, it is recommended to utilize cold compresses 10-15 minutes every hour. These will also help control the initial post procedural swelling. DO NOT rub aggressively.
Advil (ibuprofen) 800 mg three times per day or Aleve 500 mg two times per day may be taken as an anti-inflammatory to help decrease discomfort and swelling. For itching, Benadryl 25 mg up to four times a day.
Since the ResurFX® is a procedure with limited downtime, patients will mainly experience the full benefits of this remarkable laser technology when completed as a series of treatments. Typically, 3 to 4 treatments spaced about one month apart are necessary to obtain best results, although this can vary between individuals and their idiosyncratic goals.
*Results and patient experience may vary
There are typically no major side effects or downtime aside from minor inflammation. For a typical treatment with ResurFX®, the skin may be swollen for one to two days and mildly pink to red for 3 to 5. Most patients may resume their normal activities the day after the procedure and may makeup the next day. Although patients do not peel after the procedure, the skin may feel mildly rough like fine sandpaper for approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the treatment. Albeit the ResurFX® is a very safe laser, there are few, but rare, risks to be considered when undergoing any form of laser treatment. Occasionally (approximately 5% ) experience a delayed allergic reaction to the post procedural healing creams which manifests as a rapid onset of intense redness, bumps and itching. If you experience this, again, contact our staff immediately and wash off all residual creams. We will prescribe topical steroids and an alternative soothing gel to rapidly reverse this situation.
Pricing of Lumenis ResurFX® laser for skin resurfacing depends on the areas to be treated and how many will be recommended to help reach your goals. During your initial consult, our laser professional at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ will recommend a specialized treatment plan to help you reach your goals as well as attractive pricing options when treatments are performed in multiple sessions.

Spectra® - Acne/Pores
ACTIVE ACNE can be a thing of the past with modern medical modalities including antibiotics, Retinols and Accutane. Now, with the Spectra® acne laser peel, SCA can offer a new, very effective tool to combat active acne, as well as ENLARGED PORES, without the possible harsh side-effects of oral medications.
During and after puberty, most complain of enlarged PORES, specifically affecting the "T-ZONE"-that area encompassing the FOREHEAD as well as the CENTERED THIRD of the face between the pupils of the eyes. And certainly, most of us have experienced some degree of ACNE during our adolescent years and sometimes beyond.
Indeed, acne affects 85% of all teenagers and over 30% of adults. Acne vulgaris is among the most COMMON skin conditions/diseases seen in humans. It can take on many different forms including BLACKHEADS or whiteheads, PIMPLES or pustules all varying in size shape number and concentration. Acne may occur in outbreaks of differing severity. Unfortunately, SCARRING MAY RESULT in susceptible individuals. Not only do HORMONES play a significant part in the development of acne but also STRESS LEVELS, BACTERIA and consumption of certain FOODS contribute their part. Traditionally, acne is often managed with over-the-counter topical salicylic acid type washes, chemical peels and dermabrasion. Increasingly, focus has been directed towards LIGHT-BASED THERAPIES for treating acne. Among the light-based therapies offered for acne are IPL (Intense Pulse Light™) and lasers.
Spectra® Peel for Acne
Among the latter, one of the MOST EFFECTIVE treatments for acne is what we offer at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ and that is the Spectra® laser. Spectra® Laser Peel offers a reliable, lasting solution to all types of acne. The benefits include reduction of all types of acne. The procedure not only CONTROLS SEBUM production but also shrinks LARGE PORES and REDUCES REDNESS from inflamed acne. Indeed, it is SAFE for inflamed acne reducing reoccurrence and inflammation. Sebum levels, acne pimples and general skin condition will improve after the 1st session and 2 or 3 treatments spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart should achieve very DRAMATIC RESULTS.
Spectra® Peel for Large Pores
Spectra® Laser Peel is the latest non-ablative skin rejuvenation procedure providing the most effective solution for enlarged pores, melasma, hyperpigmentation and acne. This laser treatment can also brighten or smooth out your skin tone and reduce fine lines. In most cases, 3 – 5 treatments will be required for optimum and long-lasting results. It is recommended that treatments are repeated every 2 – 3 weeks for pore size reduction. To maintain the clinical results, treatments should be performed twice a year.
In addition to treating active acne and shrink pores, Spectra® also provides the added benefit of restoring a more UNIFORM SKIN COMPLEXION along with texture and DECREASED HYPERPIGMENTATION (including any melasma). Originally developed in Korea, the Spectra® laser has been safely tested with success in those with darker skin. The treatment itself has little-to-no downtime with few, if any, side effects.
Spectra®:
1. Leaves your skin looking UNIFORM IN COLOR in and texture in a COMPLETELY NATURAL way.
2. Is noninvasive and nonsurgical.
3. Is effective with most skin tones.
4. Can achieve DRAMATIC RESULTS with multiple sessions.
5. Has LITTLE DOWNTIME.
*Results and patient experience may vary.
The Lutronic VRM III Spectra laser is an effective photo-acoustic, non-ablative skin rejuvenation system that can be used to treat issues for many different skin types and indications such as:
1) Vascular lesions such as SPIDER VEINS, rosacea, birthmarks etc.
2) WRINKLES through non-ablative skin resurfacing.
3) ACNE.
4) Enlarged PORES.
5) Pigmented lesions (including AGE SPOTS & MELASMA).
6) Single and multi-colored TATTOOS.
Self-Centered Aesthetics™ is proud to offer the Spectra® laser, a gentle Nd:YAG laser that delivers specialized NANOSECOND laser energy to target the hemoglobin within the target vessel. The energy PRECISELY injures the vessels responsible for the aesthetic problem and shrinks them to an invisible state. Since the laser targets the vessel, the surrounding tissue remains undamaged.
Now, combining the Spectra® laser technology with a special carbon-based lotion (Levulan®), a TURBOCHARGED YET GENTLE skin therapy can be utilized to not only treat the melasma but also shrink pores. In fact, this Spectra® laser peel is widely considered to provide the most EFFECTIVE SOLUTION for shrinking enlarged pores. 3 STEPS are involved with a facial peel procedure. Firstly, Levulan® is applied on the skin’s surface. This facilitates the laser light of 1064nm wavelength to enter the cutaneous pores. Secondly, the carbon consequently reacts with the long-pulse laser energy with minute "explosions" on the surface of the skin along with its pores. Finally, as a result, the outer layer of the skin starts to peel, unblocking the pores. Less oil is produced since the laser will vaporize the outer layer of the sebaceous glands. The lotion is removed during this last step, removing with it skin surface cells while unclogging pores. Improvement is often seen after the first treatment, although a series of treatment is recommended for more significant results.
As an ADDED BENEFIT, heat from this process stimulates the production of NEW COLLAGEN fibers. This in turn, TIGHTENS the area around the skin’s pores, enabling them to become smaller. The end effect of a Spectra® laser peel is comparable to a chemical peel. but much safer. This laser peel can also BRIGHTEN AND SMOOTH out your skin tone while reducing fine lines (as well as improve active acne).
It is recommended that Spectra® peels are repeated every 2 to 3 weeks for acne and pore size reduction. In most, 3-10 treatments will be required for optimum and long-lasting results. To maintain the clinical results, treatments should be performed every few months.
Spectra Laser Peel is a SAFE treatment that is performed on thousands of men and women each year. It is recommended that you consult your practitioner regarding any concerns that you may have.

We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete.
Before your Spectra® laser peel treatment begins, you will be given the option of a NUMBING AGENT if you feel it necessary—most patients compare the pain to a slight warming, or rubber band snapping. The professional will then give you protective eye wear and a COOLING DEVICE to ease any discomfort. A carbon peel mask is applied to your face before the actual laser is utilized, which, in turn, is removed by Spectra® laser after several passes are done. This liquid “tricks” the laser into thinking it is attacking pigment. As the laser is passed three times over the skin, the carbon absorbs and transfers heat to the underlying skin. This efficacious treatment will improve the appearance of your skin in JUST ONE SESSION. Though the Spectra® laser peel is GENTLE, it effectively exfoliates the skin without the downtown of a harsh peel. This allows the laser to treat superficially as well as deeper into the dermal layer to stimulate your collagen production.

Spectra® - Pigmentation
With its sophisticated technology, our Spectra® laser is the first laser FDA approved for reduction of MELASMA. It is also your secret weapon against all sorts of HYPERPIGMENTATION without the downtime and discomfort.
Unfortunately, aging comes with its own set of side effects which can be readily apparent on all our faces. In addition to fine lines, wrinkles and sagging, our SKIN TEXTURE and COLOR becomes more UNEVEN. Specifically, it become DRIER and rougher exacerbated by irregular blotches of red and BROWN DISCOLORATIONS with increased pores. Consistent exposure to UV light eventually leads to irreversible damage to the skin leading to PREMATURE AGING. The damage can be both visible, or invisible, effecting the underlying cutaneous structures. Visible damage, such as AGE SPOTS or pigment changes are areas of pigment which are darker than surrounding skin. They are most likely to appear on areas most exposed to the sun, such as FACE and HANDS. They may vary in size, shape and number while some may become cancerous. Among the brown discolorations are FRECKLES, solar lentigines (AGE SPOTS) and MELASMA.
MELASMA refers to the symmetrical brown and tan hyperpigmented patches which mainly appears on the cheeks, forehead, lips and around the eyes of women. Although melasma may affect both men and women, the majority of those affected are women. Individuals of Latin or Asian ethnicity are also more likely to get melasma. It frequently results from a combination of HORMONAL influences (pregnancy, birth control pills, hormone replacement) and SUN exposure. Melasma is a FRUSTRATING PROBLEM since it does not respond easily to topical therapy or laser treatment.
The Spectra® laser can be successfully used to combat melasma and brown spots especially in conjunction with a recommended topical skin care program. During a round of treatments, Spectra® attacks all sorts of abnormal brown pigment including not only melasma but also age spots and hyperpigmentation from surgical procedures. The Spectra® also provides the added benefit of restoring a more UNIFORM SKIM COMPLEXION along with texture and SMALLER PORE size. Originally developed in Korea, the Spectra® laser has been safely tested with success in those with darker skin. The treatment itself has LITTLE-TO-NO DOWNTIME with few, if any, side effects.

Spectra® - Unwanted Tattoos
If you got inked one day and regretted it another, Self-Centered Aesthetics™ is here to help. With 650 and 585nm laser wavelength technology at our disposal, Spectra is one of the most versatile options available to treat the widest variety of TATTOOS.
Nearly 20% of the United States' population have tattoos as a reflection of their uniqueness. However, as the stigma around tattoos gets more prevalent with age, and adults start to REGRET this permanent decision made in their younger years, some people wish to have their tattoos removed. If you feel like your tattoo has become more of an old bumper sticker rather than an accurate representation of your character, then laser tattoo removal is for you! Because each tattoo is different, each recovery is different as well. Ink color, design, placement on the body, chemicals in the ink, as well as skin color are all factors to be considered when choosing Laser Tattoo Removal.
How ink colors respond to Laser Tattoo Removal:
If your tattoo has dark, superficial ink, is placed on a part of the body that has good circulation (like the arms or chest), and you have a fair to medium skin tone, then you are definitely a good contender for tattoo removal. Light and fluorescent inks, areas with poor circulation (hands and fingers), dark skin tones, and ink containing iron oxide or titanium dioxide does make tattoo removal more difficult, but not impossible. Homemade or amateur tattoos respond quicker than professional ones, although both can be EFFECTIVELY TREATED with laser tattoo removal. A series of laser treatments is always necessary. While amateur tattoos may clear after 1 or 2 sessions, professional ones may take 6-10 or more treatments to improve or completely clear. Laser tattoo removal is usually performed in intervals spaced at least 4-6 weeks apart. The professional performing your laser removal will use specific wavelengths that will produce effects in accordance with your specific tattoo.
Not only is the Spectra® excellent for removing tattoos, but it is also highly effective for treating inflamed ACNE, MELASMA, and ENLARGED PORES. The way that laser tattoo removal works is that the energy from the laser’s beam will be absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo and fragment. Then, your body will absorb the fragments and later discard them. Because of its unique power and effects, the Spectra Laser has also been FDA approved to treat melasma and acne, improving the overall appearance of skin. The Spectra Laser has 4 different Q-switch laser wavelengths, which gives the medical professional options of which wavelength to use depending on the size, ink, and skin coloring along with the tattoo—1064 nm, 532 nm, 585 nm, and 650 nm. Each wavelength targets a different color spectrum at high power, allowing for EXTREME PRECISION, as well as protecting the surrounding tissue. The extremely short NANOSECOND pulse, a thousand times shorter than a millisecond, and the low fluence used for treatment, minimizes any thermal effect ensuring the treatment is GENTLY for ALL SKIN TYPES with minimal chance of bruising. The large 5mm spot size, and up to 10 pulses per second repetition rate offers rapid and efficient performance which take, depending on the total area treated, only 5 – 10 minutes to complete.
PREPARATION
1. Be sure to come to your appointment both well hydrated and not on an empty stomach—some patients get light-headed from not eating before a treatment.
2. Consider quitting smoking cigarettes if you are a frequent smoker, as the smoke prompts for complications.
3. Be sure to use sunscreen anytime you go outside in the month leading up to your first laser treatment to avoid any negative reactions.
4. Avoid wearing excessively tight clothing in the area of your tattoo being treated.
5. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen before your treatment to avoid unnecessary bruising. Take Tylenol or any other pain medication without aspirin if needed to avoid any discomfort.
6. Be sure that the area of your tattoo being treated is clean of deodorants, perfumes, lotions, and makeup.
THE VISIT
Your first laser tattoo removal session should be expected to take 60-90 minutes to go over in detail your medical history and discuss the treatment being performed, while follow-up treatments will be around 30-45 minutes long. Our nurse professional at Self-CA will decide which laser wavelength to use, and how many treatments are necessary according to the tattoo’s ink, size, depth, and age. We will take pre and post treatment photographs to document the improvement once the treatment is complete. Our specialist at Self-CA may test the laser on a portion of your skin to make sure you have no allergy or negative reaction to it.
Before the laser tattoo removal treatment begins, you will be given the option of a NUMBING AGENT if you feel it is necessary—most patients compare the pain to a slight warming, or rubber band snapping. The professional will then give you protective eye wear and a COOLING DEVICE to ease any discomfort. When it is time for the treatment session to begin, your professional will use a hand piece to laser the tattoo into fragments for your body to absorb.
AFTERCARE
1. Immediately after your first and follow-up treatments, the laser treated skin will look white. Antibacterial cream and gauze will be applied on the tattoo site. You will continue this regimen until our skin texture and integrity have returned to normal.
2. During the healing process, you should avoid directly sunlight to your tattoo as well as swimming pools.
3. Once your 1-2 months are up and your skin has healed, you are cleared to have another treatment.
FOLLOW-UP TREATMENTS
During your laser treatment, your medical professional will determine how many treatments are necessary to fully remove your tattoo. The most effective results are typically produced with 3 sessions, but everyone’s number of treatments differ because of the difference in tattoo size, color, depth, and skin color. Many patients do, on the other hand, see immediate results after their first treatment. But, it is still recommended to wait at least 1-2 months in between each session to allow your body to absorb the pigment fragments.
Spectra is a safe laser.
There are typically no major side effects or downtime aside from the usual inflammation, discoloration or whitening or "ghosting", minor bleeding, and scabbing; so you may proceed with your regular activities, just be sure to be gentle with the treated area. Despite the possible whitening of the skin, your normal skin tone should reappear anywhere between 6-12 months after treatment.
*Results and patient experience may vary.
There are few, but rare, risks with laser tattoo removal. Like all lasers it has the side effects of scarring(possible keloid scarring in darker-skinned clients), burns, changes in skin pigmentation, darker or lighter, reactivating herpes cold sores and bacterial infection. As with any laser, there is no guarantee that all tattoos can be completely removed, nor absolutely erased without leaving a "ghost" of the original tattoo.
Your cost not only includes the use of the state-of-the-art Spectra, but more importantly, the skill and expertise of the laser specialist. Pricing of laser tattoo removal depends on how many treatments is recommended by your professional to achieve your goals. Our team at Self-Centered Aesthetics will work with you to develop your customized treatment plan to reach your desired outcome.

Spectra® - Veins/Redness
Spectra's 585nm laser wavelength technology is Self-Centered Aesthetics™ PAIN-FREE answer to your RED PATCHES, SPIDER VEINS and ROSACEA.
Red comes in all shapes, forms and sizes. The vast majority of red discolorations afflicting the face and body originate from the human vasculature. We are not referring to large vessel vasculature such as the big arteries and veins that bring blood to and from the heart but the microvasculature, the arterioles and venules which do not even have a name. These are the minute vessels that supply the skin and they may develop abnormalities either singularly or in unison with their intimate neighbors to create a whole host of visible cutaneous vascular anomalies. Vascular lesions such as BIRTHMARKS, ROSACEA, SPIDER VEINS (telangiectasia or venulectasias) and varicose veins arise from a wide range of natural and environmental sources including damage from the sun, genetic makeup, and the natural aging process. They can vary in size, shape, and prevalence in a given area.
Until recently, the only treatment for vascular lesions involved either COMPRESSION stockings, SCLEROTHERAPY (involving injecting a liquid chemical to irritate and collapse the vein) or SURGERY for larger vessels. Now, the medical professionals at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ can offer our patients state-of-the-art therapies involving noninvasive light such as IPL and SPECTRA®. The Spectra® laser with its 585 nm can be successfully used to treat a number of microvascular problems such as the aforementioned ones above. Treatment depends on selective photothermolysis whereby a wavelength of energy (in this case delivered by laser light) is applied to the target vascular lesion. This light energy is then absorbed by the chromophore (in the case of veins-hemoglobin) which is then converted to heat. The heat subsequently breaks up the coagulated blood while the surrounding tissue remains undamaged. In many cases, multiple sessions are required to achieve the maximum benefit.
Laser therapy is MOST EFFECTIVE for treating very SMALL SPIDER VEINS and not used to treat large varicose veins. Remember, there is no absolute cure for spider veins. Although treatment does not prevent formation of new veins, the removal of pre-existing ones can DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE the appearance of the afflicted area. Not only are the individual veins removed but the patch of skin plagued by them will become more YOUTHFUL and HEALTHY looking again with a UNIFORM COLOR pattern.
The Spectra® also provides the ADDED BENEFIT of restoring a more UNIFORM skin complexion along with texture and smaller pore size. Originally developed in Korea, the Spectra® laser has been safely tested with success in those with darker skin. The treatment itself has LITTLE-TO-NO DOWNTIME with few, if any, side effects.
Spectra®:
1. Leaves your skin looking UNIFORM IN COLOR and texture in a COMPLETELY NATURAL way.
2. Is noninvasive and nonsurgical.
3. Is effective with most skin tones.
4. Can achieve dramatic results with multiple sessions.
5. Has little downtime.
*Results and patient experience may vary.
The Lutronic VRM III Spectra laser is an effective photo-acoustic, non-ablative skin rejuvenation system that can be used to treat issues for many different skin types & indications such as:
1. Vascular lesions such as spider veins, rosacea, birthmarks etc.
2. Wrinkles.
3. Acne.
4. Enlarged pores.
5. Pigmented lesions (including age spots & melasma).
6. Single and multi-colored tattoos.
Self-Centered Aesthetics™ is proud to offer the Spectra® laser, a gentle Nd:YAG laser that delivers specialized nanosecond 585nm laser energy to target the hemoglobin within the target vessel. The energy PRECISELY injures the vessels responsible for the aesthetic problem and shrinks them to an invisible state. Since the laser targets the vessel, the surrounding tissue remains undamaged.
It should be known that treatment of darker skinned patients is more challenging because the pigments responsible for dark skin are similar to those in the veins and coagulated blood. However, a state-of-the-art device such as the Spectra® laser used carefully by an expert such as ours at Self-Centered Aesthetics™ can provide good results. A good laser for veins also allows the user to adjust settings so that treatment may be CUSTOMIZED FOR THE INDIVIDUAL patient’s needs, delivering the most energy safely to promote the desired result. For best results, more than one treatment may be necessary.
It is recommended that you consult your practitioner regarding any concerns that you may have.

Remember, these laser procedures reverse time, but time still marches on!
There are typically no major side effects or downtime aside from minor inflammation-your skin will have a reddish, cat-scratch appearance which disappears over the next two days. The results of spectra® laser treatment for spider veins are not immediate. After the procedure, the treated vessels under the skin will gradually change from a dark blue to a light red color then eventually disappear in 2-6 weeks. With essentially no downtime and minimal side effects, you may return to your daily activities right away. Just be sure to be gentle with the treated area.
*Results and patient experience may vary

SculpSure®
With this state of the art laser, it is a win/win… for us. We take your troublesome body spots, 25 minutes of your time and up to 20% of your fat in one visit.
Even with diet and exercise, most have STUBBORN FAT pockets which seem impossible to lose, literally impervious to exercise and diet. Previously, only surgery in the form of liposuction was able to target these areas but now, MIRACULOUS NONINVASIVE options are available to literally sculpt the body. One of the most promising is SculpSure®, a LASER-BASED system designed to achieve positive outcomes with little to no downtime. It allows not only Dr. Haworth but also go to Self-Centered Aesthetics™ to provide aesthetic offerings across a wide range of patient types.
SculpSure® is regarded as a HIGHLY EFFECTIVE, NON-INVASIVE solution for removing pockets of fat that diet and exercise alone cannot eliminate. SculpSure® is the world’s first ONLY FDA approved device that reduces up to 25% treated fat deposits in the abdomen and flanks in a 25 minute office procedure. It is now being used to decrease stubborn fat located in the back, inner and outer thighs. What's more is that all of this is achieved WITHOUT ANY DOWNTIME for the patient!
The state of the art technology behind Sculpsure® is light based, specifically a 1060 nm wavelength Diode laser with specific affinity for adipose tissue, coupled with minimal absorption in the dermis. This allows the device to efficiently treat the troublesome fat by heating the adipose tissue to between 42°C and 47°C in all skin types. Afterwards, the disrupted FAT IS ELIMINATED by the body's NATURAL PROCESSES and will not return. Patients can see results as quickly as 4 to 6 weeks. Optimal results are usually seen in as few as 12.
It is important to remember that Sculpsure® is not a weight loss treatment. Rather, it's a body contouring system that helps PERMANENTLY DESTROY fat cells in troublesome spots resistant to diet and exercise. It is ideal for people with good health and a BMI of 30 or less.
Most patients see results with as little as one treatment. However, you may wish to have additional treatments based on your desired outcome. Consult with the Self-CA team member about the best treatment plan for you.
